Human Factors and Legal Application of Use of Force (UF0015)

Full Description

Central Mountain Training Region

Human Factors and Legal Application of Use of Force

May 20th, 2026  (8 hours)

Critical incidents such as deadly force encounters are often very brief and violent. They impact an officer’s response, perception, decision-making, memory, and motor performance. Administrators, courts, media, and the public will evaluate the actions of officers after the incident without fully understanding the dynamics of human factors under stress. Understanding human factors enables us to explain why officers do what they do under stress – it does not make excuses for it.

The cost for this training class is covered under the Colorado Peace Officer Standard & (POST) Training Grant provided to the Central Mountain Training Region (CMTR). There is no cost for Colorado State Certified Peace officers to attend.  Non-Cert. Officers may attend this class; however, they cannot displace a certified Peace Officer.  Non-Sworn Officers are not confirmed a seat in the class until 12 working days from the start of the class.  At this time, we will make every attempt to fill all training seats with both sworn and non-sworn personnel. Please watch the web site for conformation in the class.  CMTR has priority, outside Colorado Law Enforcement agencies can only register 12 days before the start of the class

If you are interested in attending this training class, simply register online at: www.cmtrtraining.org. Note you must include your complete name, agency (No abbreviations please) and Colo.
