Full Description

The Pueblo Police Department is presenting a forty (40) hour Basic Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) course.  

This basic S.W.A.T. course is for individuals or teams who are full-time, sworn law enforcement officers. This course involves heavy physical activity, and participants should be prepared to meet both a minimum physical requirement, as well as a mental challenge. This course will focus on tactical skills that will prepare the officer to function as a team member. Also covered will be team organization, operations and movement involving dynamic and deliberate clearing procedures, less lethal considerations (with certification), vehicular takedowns, manual breaching, weapons handling/use, and simunitions mission executions. 
Equipment: Students will need clothing capable of withstanding rigorous outside activity and physical training. Necessary equipment shall include load bearing vests, duty belt, flashlight, gas mask, handcuff key. 

Weapons: Each participant must have one handgun and one rifle to participate in the course. Each weapon should have at least three magazines for training purposes. Each participant will be provided ammunition for the training.  
 
Safety Items: Each participant must have ear, and eye protection to include goggles and/or shooting glasses, personal protective body armor and ballistic helmet.
